The block is 40 hours. The 41st waits.

The per-seat agreement stays where it is. The block hours, project hours and out-of-scope hours get a record that holds the line.

Ceed, this month

Blocks linger. Then they surprise.

A prepaid block is drawn down when the ticket is invoiced. The client learns it ran out from the invoice. The owner learns which project ran over at the month-end call, after the hours were worked.

Ceed counts each entry against the block the day it is logged. The hour that would cross it waits for a yes or no, and the renewal conversation happens at hour 40, with the client, instead of at hour 47, with the bookkeeper.

“the block is more of a pain than anything… it is a management nightmare.”

u/wowitsdave, r/msp, August 2025.

Held. Not hidden.

The hour that would push a client over budget is saved, marked, and waits for a yes or no. Nothing is billed quietly. Nothing disappears.

Over the 40-hour block. Waiting for Sam.

  3. Approved

1.5 h inside the block. 1.5 h on the June invoice at $175.

One set of hours. Everything follows.

Blocks that show their balance. Every morning.

Every block-hour client’s hours left, every morning, visible to the owners and whoever they name. The client can be told before it is gone.

Projects with a budget. That holds.

A migration sold at 20 hours has a 20-hour budget. The hour that would cross it is held for the project lead, not found in the write-off column.

Beside your PSA. Not instead of it.

Tickets, monitoring and the per-seat agreement stay where they are. Ceed is the record of hours and money for the work you sell by the hour.

Two ways IT support gets billed when something breaks: an hourly break-fix rate with no ceiling, or a block-hours retainer, a bucket of prepaid hours at a lower rate that expires if you don’t use it. A slow month on a retainer wastes money. A bad month on hourly break-fix has no ceiling at all. Know which one you signed before the bad month happens.

In traditional IT services, more products and projects meant more billable hours and more technicians. Very little operating leverage. So there was a real incentive to bundle capabilities and deliver them as a recurring contract: to make revenue more predictable and delivery more scalable.

Of what you invoice. That is the pricing page.

Invoice $6,000 for the block this month and Ceed costs $6. The per-seat agreements you invoice from your PSA are not Ceed’s invoices and cost nothing. No seats, no tiers, no minimum.

Questions. Answers.

Does Ceed replace our PSA?

No. ConnectWise, Autotask, Halo or Syncro keeps the tickets, the monitoring and the per-seat billing. Ceed is the record of hours and money for block, project and out-of-scope work. Hours are logged in Ceed, from Slack, in a minute a day.

Our contracts are per user. What does an hour budget mean for us?

Nothing, for the per-user agreement. Everything, for the block-hour clients, the co-managed clients on a monthly hour plan, and every project sold at an estimate. Those are the hours that leak.

A tech logs 1.5 hours on a block that has 1.0 left. Who sees the hold?

The tech sees that the entry is held. The owner, or whoever they name, decides. The client sees what the agreement puts on the invoice.

Can a held hour go inside the block instead of billing at the rate past it?

Yes. Approve it inside the block and it counts there. Approve it past the block and it is billed at the rate the agreement names. Decline it and it stays on the record, unbilled.

A client disputes a project invoice 40 days after the month closed. What then?

The closed month does not change. The correction is made in the open month, on the record, with who made it and why.

From the blog: Held. Not hidden. The agreement said 40 hours. The month said 47. Other firms Ceed is for: Security MSSPs · VARs · IT consulting · all nineteen.
